Shadows
A poem
The deepest dark in which you dwell I know this gloom, I know it well A refuge from the world above That left you starved for warmth and love Here you’ve dwelt for long enough The thought of more seems but a bluff But now I’ve come to you to tell You need not feed this living hell There may yet be a better way To close the night and greet the day ‘Tis always darkest ‘fore the dawn Although you feel too far gone The way I offer may give pause For on your soul the shadow gnaws The way ahead goes not up high In deepest fathoms does it lie A contradiction this may seem A trick, a lie, a terrible dream Few would dare to tread this path Lest they face their spirit’s wrath Yet heed the abyss within you must And with your soul reforge its trust In deepest chasms must you scour To name the shadow drains its power So let ambition be your torch Your qualms and ills the flame will scorch Heed this call, if you accept The journey begins with but a step

I think this is the most metrical poem I've read of yours. I enjoyed the rhythm of it quite a lot.
Probably me being a hammer so everything looks like a nail, but is their Jungian shadow inspiration here? It really feels so.
